Trading Post Brewing
Crafting a Brewery Venture
Father-son team Lance and Paul Verhoeff had a dream to create Langley, BC’s first craft brewery. With Dutch roots, the hometown boys loved their beer, but were challenged with limited experience to build their vision into reality.
With passion and drive, they called on Dossier’s expertise in brand and venture creation.
A Dossier Design Venture
The first order of business was to attract shareholders: Dossier, among others, struck a deal to become a vested partner in the company.
A Brand Identity with a Rich History
Lance wanted to create not just a brewery, but a business where community is fostered.
Fort Langley’s history as a Hudson’s Bay trading post inspired our approach to the brand. Evoking the legacy of trading posts as hubs of commercial and social activity, we developed a brand strategy, tag line, and visual language that reflects local heritage.
Tapping Trappers
We selectively sourced rich, bold imagery and physical details throughout the retail environments that harken to the frontier lifestyle.
Dossier created an exceptional brand for Trading Post Brewing. The logo, tag line and positioning of the brand has enabled us to create a special vibe and following.
Paul Verhoeff, PresidentA Partnership in Action
After less than a year of collaboration, we championed Trading Post’s overall brand launch. From identity and communication design to an authentic beer-naming strategy, we worked with the Verhoeff’s on a multitude of endeavors including designs for growlers and tap handles, service experience, and branded environments.
Continuing to Pioneer
Trading Post Brewery opened in February 2016 and received great interest from the media and community. The Trading Post Eatery in Fort Langley opened later that year, followed by the retail launch of their beer in liquor stores.
Now, with success and experience under their belts, Trading Post Brewing is on track to open more locations in 2018 and beyond.
