Industry Vets Create an Independent Sensation
Founded by a group of former wine executives, Hidden Path Winery approached us to help build a compelling California wine brand in Canada.
Tapping into our passion for wines and experience in brand creation, we were excited to partner with Hidden Path shareholders and create an independent brand that would capture the spirit of the region.
California Character Captured
The wine itself exemplifies the best of California wine country: dark colour, rich fruit flavours, soft tannins, and elegant cocoa and vanilla notes.
Playing off this smooth profile, we focused on conveying the emotional quality that sets California apart: the sense of freedom and independence that is central to the state’s character.
A Name Founded in History
We took inspiration for the wine’s name and brand essence from California’s history: in 1846 rebels declared independence from Mexico and put “California Republic” on the first flag. Thus the “United Republic” of wine was born.
An Independent Spirit to Set the Brand Apart
The emotional quality of freedom and independence is expressed in every brand touchpoint, from the website and collateral we designed, to the product placements in feature films and TV series.
Representing the Republic of California
Launched in Oct 2013, Republic was sold in nearly all BC Liquor Stores by Christmas of that year.
With its smooth appeal and maverick attitude, United Republic continues to blaze trails across North America.
